The most spectacular event this year was the
vulcanic eruption, which made it very special for all us who
made it here by flight BEFORE the eruption and for those of us who took the
train.
Next year I promise NOT to arrange spectular things like that...just stick to
the main event...
let's start with presenting this years Northern light DERBY winner: HAVARD !
Havard won the Derby in Hemsedal 2008 and the slalom
in Hemsedal 2009.
I can tell you that he was happy to get his hands on the laser-cut glassfibre
trophy in 2010.
The price cermony was held together with the Swedish Alpine Championship.
The applauds for Havard almost lifted the roof!
Mattias was our guide in Abisko. He has a "skiers-dialect" from
Kiruna,
and is really, really good on his Mountain everywhere.
wow!
Rodo and Viking in Narvik. It can not be better. Lots of Snow, sunshine,
only 20 people on the mountian all together and you ski with a fantastic view of
the sea!
powder! Open space and the zen of monoskiing!
Svarta Bjornen off-pist at Bjorkliden was really nice.
Mimo found a really steep slope, but had problems climbing it...
This is the biggest half-pipe in the world...Lapporten, close to Abisko and
Bjorkliden.
MONOSKI does NOT mean "skiing alone", it is skiing on one
ski (not two) with lots of friends.
And usually you have many skis to choose from depending on the circumstances:
an Esprit de Glisse for the Derby, an Extreme Carv for the hard pists,
a Magnum or a Mountain for the powder and forest runs etc...
Team France in the powder! JP did some nice tricks on his DURET TRICKS!
Joakim in action in Riksgränsen!
JP carving his autograph in to the snow in Abisko
Interesting skiing in Abisko..note the biig drop in the
upper corner to the right.
JP and Joakim in action!
Bent in action with his fluid powder style in Riksgränsen!
Viking in action in Narvik!
Mimo with his relaxed and technically perfected style,
enjoying some powder in Riksgränsen.
JP jumping in Narvik!
Viking Jumping in Narvik. I just LOOOVE the view of the sea below.
I will definitely go back every year from now on!
Joakim and his carving machine in Abisko!
Joakim after eating some nice powder snow in Riksgränsen.
Viking in Narvik!
French Team...RODO the giant and JP the midget...
JP fought for 500 meters in this position before getting on the correct side of
the anchor :-)
Viking with his predator helmet and Magnum power!
Mimo has his own method to bend the poles to speedski
poles.
Falling in powder can actually be tricky when you land on a pole...beware of
broken ribs!
Havard in Narvik ...his native playground, he has grown up
on this fantastic mountain!
Christian with his powder-smile. Actually his smile is a "powder-meeter".
...big smile means lots of powder.
He suffers from pure Powder addiction since 1980!
JP in action!
RODO in Narvik.

Viking making traces in the snow
Havard before the Derby
The Derby participants this year: Havard, Rodo, Joakim, Mattias, JP,
Viking, Heeward, RADO, Joachimm, JB, Houvurd and RODDEO.
The competitiors at the swedish championship tested Monoski!
Monoski is fantastic to understand overrotation and inbalance in the body
(when you bi-ski you can always compensate and hide these problems!)
That is why Seth Morrison is using MONOSKI as a tool to enhance better balance and flow
in his extreme skiing.
Food and nice company after a whole day of monoskiing :-)
food at Riksgränsen!
Another beer moment...note the MONO Lisa T-shirt!
Using some of my Viking equipment to impress the girls...
Elin was the best female monoskier at the event
...she is a student of "Mono master Bent"
Viking with the French Team.
RODO's live performance was enjoyed by the crowd at Abisko.
With his subtle humour, he shared his passion and showed pictures from all over
the world.
Luckily he showed more pictures of snow than of chairlifts ;-)
Another group photo
Havard and Bent in a powder discussion.
Another meal ...with the trophy on the table...
Dinner at Gammelgården in Bjorkliden.
yeahh!
yeah! ...note the fingers around the beer bottle...and the T-shirt....and the
trophy!
skiing together means also having coffee brakes together ...
...when you share the same passion you are friends no matter how different you
are!
Some of the Northern Light Monoskiers...
Because of the cancelled flights and sickness, we ended up a small group of
about 10.
Next year we will be back with a vengeance!
we will be back next year!
...so do not miss The Northern Light Tour 2011!
